Farzana Rahman Bobby

Farzana Rahman Bobby is a stellar name in the printmaker artist category. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Development Alternative in Dhaka, garnering a BFA in 2008 and an MFA in 2014, majoring in Printmaking. Throughout the years, she has undergone a rich and rewarding artistic career, undergoing numerous national and international exhibitions.

Farzana's works contain a strong sense of attachment to the earth. She also exhibits an active concern for sociocultural issues. In 2019, Shilpangan hosted her solo exhibition, The Soul of the Soil, where she artistically voiced powerful concepts that spoke towards the themes of nature and human coexistence. She has also contributed to notable joint exhibitions like Thought-2 (2020) and Deliberate/Random (2015), showcasing her depth and progression as an artist.

Through 42 group exhibitions, including the Asian Art Biennale (2014-2022), the 2nd Print Biennale in India (2022), and the 3rd International Biennale of Miniprint in Argentina (2018), Farzana's works have reached global audiences. Farzana also participated in the India Art Fair (2022) and the Dhaka-Brisbane Print Exchange Program (2017).

Blending traditional techniques and modern forms, Farzana is known for taking an experimental approach to printmaking. She has attended 14 workshops and art camps, which demonstrate how much she cares about the growth of her craft and how she is always trying to expand the print media horizons.

Farzana's work is deeply rooted in her concern for nature and its relationship with humanity. Her art often depicts a complex life emerging from the dark blue-grey of space, where it intertwines between surrogate limbs and neural networks, only to be confronted by human negligence. This theme, which has gained increasing prominence in her work, is particularly relevant in the context of contemporary challenges such as pandemics and environmental degradation.

With layered prints that invite you to touch nature's awakening pulse, Bobby's art tells us to heed and truly live our relationship with other life forms back within the ecosystem.
